Step1: Preparations
  • A computer with xTool Creative Space (XCS) installed
  • An M1 Ultra
  • Triangular prisms
  • Triangular prism holders
  • A laser module
  • A fine-point blade
  • A magnetic sheet

Step2: Prepare the machine and connect to XCS

  1. Fit the triangular prisms into the triangular prism holders, following the instructions on pages 12–13 of the user manual. Place the assembled triangular prism panel on the baseplate of your M1 Ultra.
  2. Install the laser module into M1 Ultra and turn M1 Ultra on.
  3. Connect M1 Ultra to your computer using the provided USB cable. Then, open the XCS software and connect M1 Ultra to XCS.
  4. Download the fridge magnet project file according to the power of your laser module, and open the file in XCS.
  5. Select the Basswood Plywood canvas on XCS.

Step3: Laser cut the flower frame

  1. Place the basswood plywood sheet on the triangular prism panel as illustrated.
  2. On the right panel of XCS, click Mark, select the Rectangle marking mode, and then click Start marking.
  3. Move the laser module to a target point on the basswood plywood sheet and then press the point marking button on M1 Ultra to record the point. Repeat the steps to record the other target point.
  4. After marking the target points, click End marking and Done on XCS to exit marking. You can see the marked processing area on the canvas.
  5. Move the laser module to ensure the red-cross spot falls on the processing area. Close the lid of M1 Ultra.
  6. On the right panel of XCS, click the icon next to the Distance(mm) parameter. M1 Ultra automatically measures the distance from the top of the laser module to the upper surface of the sheet.
  7. Move the pattern to the processing area on XCS.
  8. Click Process. The Preview page is displayed, showing the estimated time and processing module.
  9. Click Start. After Ready appears on XCS, press the Start/Stop button on M1 Ultra. Wait for the laser cutting process to complete.

Take out the sheet, pick up the small wooden pieces that have fallen onto the baseplate, and set the cut-out flower frame aside for later use.

Step4: Laser cut other flower components

  1. Place the walnut plywood sheet on the triangular prism panel as illustrated.
  2. Select the Walnut Plywood canvas on XCS.
  3. On the right panel of XCS, click Mark, select the Rectangle marking mode, and then click Start marking.
  4. Move the laser module to a target point on the walnut plywood sheet and then press the point marking button on M1 Ultra to record the point. Repeat the steps to record the other target point.
  5. After marking the target points, click End marking and Done on XCS to exit marking. You can see the marked processing area on the canvas.
  6. Move the laser module to ensure the red-cross spot falls on the processing area. Close the lid of M1 Ultra.
  7. On the right panel of XCS, click the icon next to the Distance(mm) parameter. M1 Ultra automatically measures the distance from the top of the laser module to the upper surface of the sheet.
  8. Move the pattern to the processing area on XCS.

Step5: Install the fine-point blade

  1. Take out the triangular prism panel. Fit the fine-point blade into the basic carriage, following the instructions on pages 15–16 of the user manual.
  2. Remove the protective films on both sides of the cutting mat. Place it on the baseplate, aligning the four corners of the cutting mat with the markings in the four corners of the baseplate.
  3. Place the magnetic sheet on the cutting mat with the dark side facing down. Flatten the magnetic sheet with your hand, ensuring that the sheet is well attached.

Step6: Blade cut the magnetic sheet

  1. Select the magnetic sheet canvas on XCS.
  2. On the right panel of XCS, click Mark, select the Rectangle marking mode, and then click Start marking.
  3. Move the processing module to a target point on the magnetic sheet and then press the point marking button on M1 Ultra to record the point. Repeat the steps to record the other target point.
  4. After marking the target points, click End marking and Done on XCS to exit marking. You can see the marked processing area on the canvas.
  5. Move the pattern to the processing area on XCS.
  6. Click Process. The Preview page is displayed, showing the estimated time and processing module.
  7. Click Start. After Ready appears on XCS, press the Start/Stop button on M1 Ultra. Wait for the blade cutting process to complete.

Take out the magnetic sheet and set the cut-out aside.

Step7: Assemble the flower fridge magnet

  1. Remove the white adhesive backing from the trimmed magnetic sheet. Attach the flower frame to the trimmed magnetic sheet by aligning their edges as illustrated.
  2. Place other flower components onto the trimmed magnetic sheet, matching them according to their respective shapes.
  3. Apply gentle pressure to the wooden components to ensure that they are firmly attached to the trimmed magnetic sheet.

Step8: (Optional) Apply wood polish

If you have wood polish, you can proceed with this step.

  1. Wipe the wooden components of the flower fridge magnet using a dry tissue, then apply a layer of wood polish.
  2. Air-dry the flower fridge magnet coated with wood polish in a dry, well-ventilated place.

 

NOTE

Do not pause the process or move the plywood sheets or magnetic sheet during laser or blade cutting. Otherwise, the position of the patterns will deviate on the materials.
