This project captures one of the proudest and most meaningful moments of my life—a photograph taken in 1991 on the day I graduated from U.S. Navy Boot Camp at Great Lakes, IL. My parents and brother made the trip to be there, and after the ceremony, my mother snapped this picture of the three of us. I remember standing there, filled with pride, feeling the strength of their support. A few years later, I lost my brother—and this photo became more than just a memory. It became a reminder of love, pride, and time spent together. I’ve carried this moment with me ever since. Crafted with care using xTool’s 3mm basswood and rosewood plywood, the image is etched in warm detail and framed to highlight the strength of our bond. The two accompanying plaques—a U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman emblem and a personal dedication—serve as tributes to service, family, and the unshakable anchor of memory. “Forever Anchored – Bruce and Dad, always with me…” This piece doesn’t just commemorate a milestone—it holds the story of a family’s love, a brother’s memory, and a moment frozen in time.
